There is no reason for me to buy cattle without LRP. It saved my bottom line.

What we like most about LRP is the flexibility; we don’t need to insure all of our hogs at one time. We can insure what we feel comfortable with. Even though we raise hogs for a specialty market and are paid a premium price, we still participate in LRP since we own the hogs 100%. Receiving the premium price doesn’t affect our participation with LRP. We may insure small numbers or groups of hogs and if we receive a claim, the money helps pay for costs on the production side. We have had a great experience so far.
